为解决开敞式掘进机在软弱围岩条件下无法掘进和双护盾式掘进机在遇到收缩性围岩或经过断层破碎带时容易出现卡机无法通过的问题，本文介绍了一种DSU-C多功能全断面岩石掘进机，该掘进机优化了结构设计——盾体呈倒锥形并缩短了主机长度，减小了盾体与隧道壁之间的摩擦力，有效避免了在遇到收缩性围岩或经过断层破碎带时卡机事故的发生；性能方面采用大推力和大扭矩设计，脱困能力强；此外，该掘进机具有多种掘进模式，适用于开敞式掘进机的典型应用领域，具有双护盾掘进机的所有优点，使掘进操作更加容易和简便。最后通过具体工程案例的介绍，验证了该掘进机应对各类复杂的地质条件具有不可比拟的优越性。

The Double Shield Universal Compact TBM (DSUC TBM) has been developed to substitute Open Type TBM in their typical filed of application. It offers many of the same advantages of traditional Double Shield TBM but with a simpler and easier operating system. The shield of DSUC TBM is designed to cone type with a extremely total length, thus can reduce the friction between shield and rock, so to avoid block accident in fault area. The DSUC TBM has the characteristics of high thrust and torque capacity, it can cope basically with all kind of rock formations and rock strength.
