In the paper, the authors briefly present the different attitude survey methods for shield machines used for Metro works. Taking a shieldbored running tunnel on line 1 of Nanjing Metro as example, the authors make analysis on the determination of the boring directions and the attitudes of the shield machine by means of prism method and draw some useful conclusions. The paper can provide reference for the construction of Metro tunnels in the future.
