Abstract:

Erection, launching and arrival of shield machines are critical processes of the complete tunnel construction by means of shield machines. The launching and arrival of the shield machines must be conducted in such a way that the shield machines should pass through the prebuilt portals smoothly, safely and rapidly and good construction prerequisite should be provided for the following construction activities. A slurry shield machine is adopted for the construction of the Yangtze River Crossing tunnel in Chongqing, which is one part of Chongqing Urban Environment Protection Project. This paper presents the detailed processes of the erection, launching and arrival of the shield machine in deep shafts.
