Abstract:
Surrounded space and remaining space naturally exist at the following positions of cutandcover Metro stations: 1) Between the ancillary structure and the main structure at the small end; 2) Above the auxiliary line of the intermediate stations; 3) Between the connecting lines and the transfer stations; 4) B1 and B2 floors of deep Metro stations. At present, the construction and operation costs of Metros are high, therefore it’s necessary to use the abovementioned surrounded space and remaining space rationally: 1) The space can be used as equipment rooms or spare rooms, so as to reduce the investment of the Metro station; 2) The space can be used as commercial area, the revenue of which can be subsidies for Metro operation. If the space cannot be used, the space will be vacant or will be backfilled, which has the following disadvantages: 1) Permanent dead space will be formed; 2) The cost of the civil works related to the retaining structure, major structure and backfilling may be increased; 3) When the construction of the Metro station is completed, due to the irreversibility of the development of underground space, it will be very difficult to renovate the Metro station so as to use the abovementioned space. In the paper, the technological and economical issues related to the use of the abovementioned space are studied, which shows that the use of the surrounded space and the remaining space has good technological and economical benefits.
