Abstract

Abstract:

The triangle area method for tunnel crown settlement monitoring by using convergence gauge is an economical and highprecision deformation monitoring method. The mathematical analysis is made on the triangle area method; and an optimal triangle layout of monitoring points is decided by calculating peak value of medium error function of settlement. The results show that the underside length of the triangle, equaling 1.362 5 times waist length, is the best choice which can achieve optimal monitoring precision.
