Study of Application of Waste Slurry to Backfilled Grouting of Shield Tunnel

Abstract:

The waste slurry will be definitely produced during slurry shield tunneling, which would cause serious environmental pollution and high cost. As a result, it is used to replace bentonite and water in backfilled grouting slurry of shield tunnel; and then the influence of it on performance of backfilled grouting slurry is studied. The results show that: 1) The grouting material with specific gravity of 1.16 and viscosity of 22 s is better than the original slurry in terms of flowability and consistency. 2) The grouting material with specific gravity of 1.27 and viscosity of 24 s would reduce the flowability of slurry and affect the pumpability of slurry. 3) The performance of new backfilled grouting slurry can meet relevant requirements by appropriately adjusting watercement ratio and slurry specific gravity. 4) The reusing of waste slurry is economical and environmentally friendly.
