Abstract: Currently, there are limited land resources for cemeteries. Therefore, to respond to the advocacy of national underground space utilization while maintaining humanitarianism, the background of cemetery designs and the feasibility analysis of their perfection are investigated. The studies and obtained conclusions are summarized as follows: (1) The humanistic concern is considered as the theme, and the Chinese traditional classic culture is introduced to design intelligent underground cemetery buildings. (2) In this design, traditional factors such as tombstones and flowers are retained, and the scenes of scientific and technological memorial ceremonies are included to maintain the traditional virtues of filial piety of the Chinese nation and meet the people′s sense of ceremony, which is more conducive to saving resources and protecting the environment. (3) Quantitative centralized management is adopted, and the family is considered as the unit to arrange the cremation urns, which can fully utilize underground space and considerably reduce the space occupied on the ground. (4) It can also create more job opportunities.
