Abstract: To realize continuous ultrashort edge traverse measurement in tunnel and select an appropriate measurement scheme, a case study is conducted on an inclined shaft of seacrossing tunnel of Qingdao metro. Multiple traverse measurement methods such as conventional double traverse measurement, virtual double traverse measurement, side intersection traverse measurement with multiturning points, corner intersection traverse measurement with free station and multipublic points, and conventional double traverse measurement + gyro composite directional measurements are applied in the project. The application conditions, measurement efficiency, and effects of various methods are compared and analyzed, and the best measurement results are used to guide the construction of crosssea tunnels, so as to ensure the high precision of tunnel penetration. The advantages, disadvantages, and application conditions of these measurement methods are summarized, providing guidance for traverse measurement inside tunnel without help of gyroscope.
