Abstract: To realize construction ventilation of high-altitude and long-distance tunnels with multi-working faces and save energy, the air chamber type ventilation method is proposed by combining the press-in type and the tunnel type ventilation methods, and the fan configurations for different altitudes, different ventilation lengths, and four working faces are determined based on the theory of air volume deployment. The proposed ventilation method is compared with the air bin type to validate its superiority. Conclusions are as follows: (1) When the auxiliary pit length is less than 4 000 m, the proposed ventilation method can supply four working faces with mucking process at the same time. (2) When the auxiliary pit length is over 4 000 m, the air volume can be reduced by adjusting the construction process of tunnel face, so as to satisfy the requirements of ventilation for each working face. (3) Under the same conditions, the energy consumption of air chamber ventilation is 22.28%54.37% less than air bin ventilation.
