Abstract:

Jiaozhou Bay subsea tunnel in Qingdao crosses several fault and fracture zones. Therefore, collapses, cavein, water gushing and mud gushing are subject to occur during the tunnel construction. The risks related to tunneling through fault and fracture zones are analyzed on basis of the design and construction of the tunnel. Furthermore, countermeasures are recommended for the risks. The paper can be served as reference for similar works in the future.
