The foundation of an opencut tunnel is located in waterrich sandy cobble ground. The particles of the ground will be lost due to the dynamic ground water, which may cause serious settlement to the foundation of the tunnel. Two types of consolidation methods, i.e., “full consolidation+drain pass” method and stripshaped consolidation method, are studied for the consolidation of the foundation of the opencut tunnel. In the end, stripshaped consolidation method is adopted on basis of study results. The field monitoring data show that stripshaped consolidation method can meet the requirements of the works and is suitable for the consolidation of the foundation of tunnels located in waterrich sandy cobble ground.
