To investigate the influence of suspended load on the
structural performance of corrugated steel utility tunnel (CSUT), the
deformation and stress of the CSUT under suspended load are analyzed by field
test and finite element analysis, and a case study is conducted on the firststage
project of underground utility tunnel in Wuyi County, Hengshui, Hebei province,
China. The results show the following: (1) The hanging point of the field test
is within 90° (45° on both
sides) of the crown position, and the structural deformation under the suspended
load is not greater than 2 mm.
The current design pipeline suspended load has little effect on the structure.
(2) The closer the suspended load action point to the crown position, the
greater the response of the structure, and the more unfavorable to the
structure. (3) There is a certain limit value of the suspended load, before
which the maximum stress of the structure is controlled by the dead load of the
overburden soil. After the limit value is exceeded, the maximum stress of the
structure is controlled by the imposed suspended load. (4) With the continuous
increase of suspended load, local stress yield occurs at the loading point, but
the overall bearing stiffness of the structure remains unchanged.
