Manual measurement of the shieldtail
clearance during shield tunneling has multiple disadvantages, such as low data
accuracy, a long measurement period, and high difficulty. Therefore, the
principles and adaptability of various intelligent measurement technologies are
analyzed in this study. An automatic and realtime
measurement method for the shieldtail clearance using
intelligent imagerecognition is proposed, realizing
intelligent measurement during shield tunneling. The accuracy and stability of
the proposed system are validated by application to onsite
construction. The measurement data are found to be in close agreement with the
manual measurement results(97.4%). Thus, the stability and applicability of the
manual measurement system have been improved by using measurement data software
for automatic identification.
