In alignment with the national strategy for achieving
carbon peak and carbon neutrality, the authors investigate the green
transformation of construction practices through a case study of the Caozhuang
station on the JiaxingFengnan city railway. A design
scheme for constructing an underground station using the Continuous open
caisson method is introduced. This innovative approach involves the progressive
compression of continuously distributed open caissons in batches, which are
subsequently interconnected to form a cohesive underground station structure.
The authors highlight key techniques involved in this method, including the
establishment of permanent connections, structural integration, control of
differential settlement, and mitigation of environmental impacts. When compared
to the traditional opencut construction method, this
approach significantly reduces project costs by eliminating the need for
extensive temporary structures, mitigates the risk of confined water ingress
through undrained excavation, and shortens the construction timeline by
allowing simultaneous structure formation and soil excavation. Owing to its
minimal environmental footprint, this method is particularly suited for use in
environmentally sensitive areas.
