The development of
intelligent tunneling control systems for shield tunneling faces many
challenges, such as a lack of testing environment, interference between system
testing and normal tunneling time, and difficult test under special conditions.
Shield tunneling also faces various challenges, including various geological
conditions, complex construction procedures, and collaborative effect between
equipment and systems. Thus, the authors summarize the development experience
of intelligent shield tunneling systems, and propose a technical solution for
constructing an experimental testing environment for intelligent slurry shield
tunneling system based on actual shield tunneling and historical engineering
data considering the needs of multi-system
collaborative control and multi-working condition
comprehensive testing of slurry shield tunneling. Furthermore, the authors
conduct overall design of the experimental system, calculation and analysis of
primary parameters, and detailed structural design, thus developing an
experimental system with multiple functions including cutterhead resistance
torque loading, propulsion resistance loading, and slurry circulation control.
Preliminary tests are conducted as well. The results show that the experimental
system can be used to load and test the shield, simulate excavation under
different geological and working conditions, and provide a safe, efficient,
flexible, and diverse experimental environment for the research of intelligent
excavation algorithms and the development of intelligent control systems for
shield tunneling.
