In China’s asphalt concrete pavement design standards, it is not required to execute verification calculation on the allowable tensile strain of the bottom surface of the asphalt concrete pavements, which, however, is an integral part of some mature design standards of asphalt concrete pavements of some foreign countries. In the paper, the foreign tensile strain verification calculation methods, the relationship between temperature and tensile strain and the factors affecting the tensile strain are presented and the necessity of the verification calculation of the tensile strain in the design of the asphalt concrete pavement is expatiated, which can provide reference for the verification calculation of the tensile strain.
