Taking Longtoushan tunnel on east Guangzhou section of Beijing～Zhuhai national highway as case history, the author presents the cutting of the side/front portal slopes of the tunnel, the installation of the forepoling pipe roof for the portal section, the excavation of the tunnel by means of double side drift construction method and the installation of the advance support and the primary reinforcement, which can provide reference for similar works in the future.
