On basis of monitoring of and analysis on the surface rainfall and the quantity of water inflowing into the tunnel during the construction of a railway tunnel, the article summarizes that karst water gushing can be divided into three kinds of connectivity characteristics, i.e., unconnected, semiconnected and connected, which can offer some guidance for the design and construction of similar projects in the future.
