Taking Hanzhai tunnel in HY08 bid section of Huangling-Yan'an highway as example, the article studies on some critical issues related to the excavation, reinforcement, secondary lining and monitoring and measurement of highway tunnels located in collapsible loess, to which special attention should be paid during tunnel construction. Thus, the article makes a summary of the major control points for building tunnels in collapsible loess.
