The sewage tunnel project from Huilongguan East Station to Lishui Bridge Station crosses underneath the urban railways and national railways. Due to the complex geological conditions and rich ground water, high requirements are imposed on the subsidence control during construction and there exist great construction difficulties. By means of piperamming method, the construction quality and construction progress are effectively improved, the normal operation of the existing urban railways and the national railways are ensured and good economic efficiency is achieved. Furthermore, the piperamming method is more simple and more effective in guaranteeing the construction safety than the shallowburied undercutting method and pipejacking method. The auther presents the features and critical aspects of the piperamming construction, as well as the problems subject to occur during construction (such as direction deviations of the rammed pipes, ground surface subsidence and blocking) and the countermeasures.
