The basic principle for the consolidation of the wetsubsidence loess subgrade is to destroy the macroconfiguration of the wetsubsidence loess so as to eliminate the wetsubsidence feature. Some portions of TongYan highway are located in wetsubsidence loess zones. In order to guarantee the safety and normal performance of the subgrade and structures of the highway, impaction and compaction method is adopted to consolidate the subgrade consisting of nongravity wetsubsidence loess before backfilling so that the subgrade can meet the requirements in respect of bearing capacity and stability.
