In order to achieve realtime monitoring of shield boring in the aboveground office and to avoid the various limitations of the thirdparty configuration software, the authors try to realize the communications between PLC and aboveground monitoring PC based on OPC standard. An OPCbased data acquisition and visualization system for shield machines has been developed and has been verified through engineering practice.
