The launching shaft of CheWan shield tunnel works on line 4 of Guangzhou Mass Rapid Transit systems is only 50m long, therefore separate launching scheme must be adopted for the launching of the shield machine. In the paper, the author presents the comparison among the different launching options and the execution of the separate launching of the shield machine.
