Control of Differential Settlement Due to Tunnel's Crossing under Gaoliang Bridge

The tunnels between Xizhimen station and Dongwuyuan station on metro line 4 in Beijing are planed to pass under the Gaoliang Bridge. In order to reduce the influence on Gaoliang Bridge due to the tunnel construction, the original method (bench method) of tunnel excavation is changed to CRD method and Gaoliang Bridge is also reinforced. The settlement of bridge pier and the differential settlement among bridge piers are monitored by the insitu measurement, which are also predicted by the numerical simulation in this paper.
