The shallow tunnelling method is adopted to construct the singletrack tunnels between Shuangjing station and Jinsong station on metro line 10 in Beijing. One tunnel is excavated underneath a threestorey building and in the vicinity of a sixteenstorey building. Based on the measured settlement data in the construction of the tunnel, the settlement prediction of the ground due to the tunnel construction underneath the buildings is performed, and the countermeasures are proposed in this paper.
