A Discussion on the Geological Risks Influencing the Construction of Connection Galleries of Metro Works in the Hankou Area

Abstract:

The geological risks influencing the construction of connection galleries of Metro works in Hankou,such as the abrupt change of the geological condition of the local area, poor geological conditions unrevealed by surveys, the risk of water outburst under high aquifer water pressure, risks associated with high permeability, differences in the geological conditions caused by seasonal rainfalls, and the sudden freezing and defrosting caused by abrupt geological change, are discussed. Advices, including perfecting the basic geological survey data, increasing the exploration drilling, timely design modification, the use of freezing controls, adoption of comprehensive geological prediction technologies, management improvement and professional development of technical staff, are provided to improve the risk management in Metro construction in Wuhan. 
