Abstract:

Problems such as great construction difficulties, high risks, tight construction schedules, numerous existing line crossings and strict surrounding environment requirements are encountered in the construction of the New 5 Lines of Shanghai Metro. Solutions for these problems are presented, with the Metro station deep foundation pits, shield boring across underneath existing Metro lines, and the passenger transfer tunnels and entrance/exist tunnels as example. The concept of “construction serves for the operation” is promoted. 
