Shield Launching Technology for Running Tunnel on Smallradius Curve with One Single Shaft: Case Study on Line 2 of Dalian Metro

Abstract:

The running tunnel from Xi’an Road Station to Jiaotong University Station on Line 2 of Dalian Metro is on smallradius curves. The shield for the mentioned running tunnel is to be launched under the condition of one single shaft. In the paper, comparison and contrast is made between separate shield launching program and integral shield launching program in terms of progress, cost and feasibility, and it is finally determined that integral shield launching program is to be adopted. In the launching of the shield, selfmade belt conveyor and selfmade segment feeder are used, and the launching direction and the driving attitude of the shield are well controlled, so as to facilitate the mucking, segment delivery and shield attitude control in the launching. In the end, successful shield launching is achieved for the running tunnel on smallradius curves.
