Abstract:

In order to improve the efficiency and quality of the maintenance and rehabilitation of existing tunnels on freeway, Taiwan Area National Freeway Bureau develops a Tunnel Maintenance and Management System (TMMSTANFB). The system has to fulfill with the thinking of tunnel life cycle and building a database integrated with tunnel construction data, safety inspection data and maintenance data. The system is based on the data of the design, construction, maintenance and monitoring of the tunnels on No. 5 freeway in Taiwan. The system is not only helpful for the establishing, storage and look up of the abovementioned data, but also can be used for the followup research of the maintenance strategies. In this paper, the system and its subsystems for the overall planning framework, function and application mode are described. 
