Case Study on Integration of Municipal Tunnel and Metro Station

Abstract:

A municipal tunnel in Chengdu, China is planned to be on the same path of a Metro station. In the paper, the location, main technical standards, plane route, longitudinal profile and structural feature of the municipal tunnel are presented, and the relationship between the municipal tunnel and the Metro station, the structure of the municipal tunnel and the key points in the design and construction of the municipal tunnel are highlighted. The scheme of integrating the municipal tunnel into the Metro station is adopted after comparison and analysis. The municipal tunnel is constructed on the top of the Metro station, with the floor slab of the municipal tunnel used as the roof slab of the Metro station concurrently and the side wall of the municipal tunnel being at the same vertical position as that of the Metro station. The municipal tunnel and the Metro station are designed and constructed at the same time. The municipal tunnel has been completed and opened to traffic successfully. The practice shows that it is feasible to integrate the municipal tunnel into the Metro station. 
