Abstract:

The shield tail bears large water pressure and dead load during shield tunneling, which would induce shield tail deformation. Incidents would be occurred when the shield tail deformation is beyond design requirement. The loads on shield tail during shield tunneling are analyzed, and 3D finite element model is established and calculated. The shield tail structure is optimized by replacing 4 grouting holes by 6 grouting holes, and finite element software is used to analyze the construction cases respectively. The analytical results show that the shield tail deformation is reduced and the shield tunneling quality is improved by adopting 6 grouting holes.
