Abstract:
Poor geological conditions and highpressure water inrush would be encountered during slurry shield tunneling. The high efficiency of slurry system and rapid tunneling are the keys to slurry shield tunneling. In this paper, the slurry preparation, slurry cycling and slurry treatment for Shiziyang Tunnel are presented; and the comprehensive slurry management technologies are summarized. Main conclusions are drawn as follows: 1) Due to the abundant kinds of slurry materials, the economical factors and strata conditions should be fully taken into consideration, and rational materials and additives should be selected. 2) The slurry properties should be adjusted according to actual geological conditions when slurry shield tunneling in complex strata. 3) Further study of determination test on clay content, water loss and gel rate parameters of slurry is recommended.
