Abstract: To achieve curved jacking with a small clear span and long distance in a complex geology, pipejacking techniques, including speciallydesigned cutterhead and main machine, bipolar deviation adjusting and intelligent control system, as well as automatic guiding system, drag reduction using pasteslurry technology and sectional grouting, efficient slurry system, and strict slurry operation management are applied. Following results are obtained: (1) The slurry balance pipejacking machine can meet the requirements of longdistance and curved pipejacking construction, and the intelligent control system is convenient for equipment operation and project management. (2) The pipejacking friction is effectively reduced by combining highpressure paste slurry and the conventional sectional grouting of thixotropic slurry, and the actual jacking force is approximately 60% of the theoretical jacking force. (3) The automatic guiding system can achieve deviation adjustment with a small angle and range, thus ensuring successful pipe jacking. (4) The efficient slurry system and strict slurry operation management effectively overcome difficulties caused by a complex geology and small clear distance doublepipe jacking.
