Abstract: There has always been a controversy between partition and duct ventilation modes in the inclined shaft construction area of a tunnel of a plateau railway. Ventilation network calculation is conducted on these two modes. The calculation results and energy consumption are compared to provide a reference for selecting construction ventilation modes in the inclined shaft construction area. Some conclusions are drawn as follows: (1) The wind speed of the working surface under the two ventilation modes can meet the design requirements. (2) When the diameter of the air duct in the inclined shaft is 2.2 m, the partition ventilation has a better effect than the air duct ventilation in terms of energy consumption in both the second and third stages under the same fan configuration. (3) When the diameter of the air duct in the inclined shaft is slightly greater than 2.5 m, the energy consumption of air duct ventilation is equivalent to that of partition ventilation. The energy consumption of air duct ventilation will be less than that of partition ventilation if the air duct′s diameter is continuously increased. Finally, suggestions are given on selecting the construction ventilation mode for singleinclinedshaft and doublemaintunnel projects.
