Abstract:

In this study, the hysteresis performance of corrugated steelplate utility tunnel under lowcycle cyclic load is investigated by conducting a case study on a corrugated steelplate utility tunnel. In addition, numerical simulations and tests are employed to examine the seismic performance of the tunnel under six load conditions, including transverse, longitudinal, and vertical loads and the influence of flange connection and thickness, utility tunnel thickness, and bolt position on the hysteresis performance of the structure is characterized. The present findings are stated as follows: (1) The corrugated steelplate utility tunnel exhibits strong plastic deformation ability and appropriate seismic performance under lowcycle cyclic load. However, the segment assembly joint is a weak position that can be easily detached. (2) Although the mechanical and hysteresis properties of the structure are remarkably influenced by the flange, the variations in flange thickness have a marginal effect. (3) The position of the bolts on the circumferential flange considerably influences the longitudinal hysteresis characteristics of the structure but marginally impacts the hysteresis characteristics in other directions. (4) The thickness of the corrugated plate is a key factor affecting the seismic performance of structures.
