Abstract:

Taking Shanggongshan tunnel on Zhangjiuhe River Water Diversion/Supply Project in Kunming, China as an example, the author analyzes such notorious adverse geological conditions as squeezing and/or swelling ground, fault and/or fracture zone, mud burst and water inflow that impede the boring of the doubleshielded TBMs and recommends options and countermeasures for these difficult geological conditions from the macro and micro viewpoints, which can provide reference for future tunnel construction by doubleshielded TBMs.
