Abstract:

Both Qiantang river crossing highway tunnel at Qingchun road and Qiantang river crossing running tunnel of line 2 of Hangzhou Metro are designed as shielddriven tunnels. The planned net distance between the two tunnels, which are designed to cross Qiantang river with almost parallel, ranges from 15m to 70m. In the paper, comprehensive analysis is made on the feasibility of the option of separate highway tunnel and Metro tunnel and the option of combined highway/Metro tunnel in terms of construction conditions, planning, design, construction, operation, management and investment. It is recommended that the option of separate highway tunnel and Metro tunnel should be adopted.
