Abstract:

It is the first time that Earth Pressure Balanced is used to construct Metro tunnel in Chengdu. The ground is full of water and contains a large amount of cobbles. Therefore the shield tunneling is very difficult. In the paper, the risk mechanisms of this project is studied, the main risks are found out, assessed and classified employing the method of R=P×C and the risk classification is determined. These studies ensure the successful progress of the project.
