Key Construction Technology for Qiyueshan Tunnel on YichangWanzhou
Railway in Fault Containing Rich Highpressure Water

Abstract:

Regarding the construction of Qiyueshan tunnel on YichangWanzhou railway, which passes through F11 fault, comparison and contrast are made on freezing method, energyreleasing and pressurereducing method and consolidating and waterblocking grouting method. In the end, the optimized method of waterreleasing and pressurereducing and informationaided grouting is adopted after scientific studies and engineering practice. The waterreleasing tunnel and parallel drift are used as waterreleasing and pressurereducing passages to reduce the water pressure and minimize the water/mud burst risks. Accurate informationaided grouting is executed to consolidate the surrounding rock mass, which is followed by rapid excavation and rapid sealing so as to tunneling through the fault safely and rapidly. In this way, the difficult problem of rapid tunneling through faults containing rich highpressure water in karst areas is successfully solved. The technology described in the paper can be promoted for similar works.
