Abstract:

The procedure of replacing cutting teeth under atmospheric pressure executed in the boring of Nanjing Yangtze River Tunnel is presented. The method is applicable to largediameter shields with such special design features. The replacing steps and methods and the items to which attention should be paid are described in detail. The design of the cutting teeth that are to be replaced under atmospheric pressure is optimized in order to facilitate the checking of the connection of the fixing bolts of the cutting teeth under atmospheric pressure. The paper can be served as reference for similar cases in the future.
