Abstract:

Analysis is made on several options of Qiongzhou Strait Tunnel project proposed by related institutes on basis of investigations on the background of Qiongzhou Strait tunnel (including geographic location, regional economy, traffic actuality and traffic requirement in future), geological condition, climate and ecological environment. The analysis results show that the option of the centerline shield railway tunnel is the best. Solutions for the major technological problems of shield tunneling are provided. In the end, the principles of seacrossing project construction in Qiongzhou Strait, the current works and the problems to be further studied are described.
