Abstract:

DoubleOTube shield tunneling technology applied in CA450A project of Taoyuan international airport MRT system is discussed in this paper. It is the first time that DOT shield tunneling method is used in Taiwan. The geological conditions, DOT method, the segments and their joints adopted in this project are presented. The problems encountered during tunneling, including obstacles encountered during tunneling, shield rolling and automatic direction control of shield, as well as the countermeasures, are interpreted. Finally, the countermeasures for the most serious problems in initial tunneling, including blocking of feed pipes and segment ring rolling, are given. This paper can provide references for similar projects in the future.
