Abstract:

Huaxinjie~Guanyinqiao running tunnel of line 3 of Chongqing MRT system crosses underneath an underground pedestrian passage with close clearance. The stability of the retaining walls at the entrance of the underground pedestrian passage and the stability of the tunnel under 2 cases (case 1: the retaining walls are consolidated; case 2: the retaining walls are not consolidated), are analyzed by numerical simulation method. The analysis results show that, due to the consolidation of the retaining walls, the displacement of the retaining walls and the maximum principal stress of the tunnel are reduced and that the stability of the retaining walls and the tunnel is improved. The analysis results can be served as reference for similar projects in the future.
