Abstract:

Three construction programs adopted in the construction of No.1 Shenmu Tunnel on YulinShenmu expressway are presented in detail in order to accumulate experiences in the construction of tunnels in aeolian sand areas. The settlement control results, the difficulties in the construction technologies and the construction periods are comparatively studied by means of numerical simulations and monitoring. Conclusions drawn are as follows: 1) “small duct + top heading/bench + temporary invert” method is applicable for cases in which rapid construction is needed due to the tight construction schedules and there are no strict requirements on the settlement control; 2) “horizontal jet grouting pile + top heading/two benches + temporary invert” method is applicable for cases in which there are strict requirements on the settlement control; 3) “large pipe roof support + top heading/bench + temporary invert” method is applicable for cases in between.
