Research on “Bridge in South and Tunnel in North” Option for Bohai

Abstract: The option for Bohai Strait Seacrossing Fixed Link is studied in order to promote the planning and construction of the fixed link. The basic construction conditions, such as the topography, landform, geology, climate, ocean and environment, are analyzed and the option of “bridge in the south and tunnel in the north” is proposed. The topographic data of the islands and the sea bottoms are obtained through the software of Google Earth and the longitudinal profile of the terrain of the fixed link is prepared. The cover of the tunnel and the alignment of the bridge are proposed on basis of the characteristics of the islands and the depth of the seawater. Finally, some issues to be further studied are provided and some suggestions are made. 
