Abstract: The stateofart of the risk management in works construction is analyzed. Risk management is urgently needed in the construction of tunnels and underground works in China. The concept of risk management in works construction is described. The main phases and key points of risk management in the construction of tunnels and underground works are presented, with the risk control in karst geology in tunnel construction as an example. The main characteristics and particular difficulties of risk management in the construction of tunnels and underground works are analyzed. The key of risk management is the effectiveness of the risk management activities. The means to improve the effectiveness of risk management include dynamic risk management, expert assessment system and professional risk management.
