Numerical Analysis on Stability of Surrounding Rock of TwintubeTunnelin Karst Area during Excavation

Abstract: Numerical analysis is made on the stability of the surrounding rock of tube-tube tunnels in karst area by means of FLAC3D, with the construction of Changjiling tunnel on Guangzhou-Lechang highway as an example. The study result shows that the deformation of the surrounding rock increases with the increase of the karst size and that the tension stress would probably lead to the overlarge deformation, even break of the surrounding rock. The paper can provide reference for the design, construction and study of similar projects in the future.
