Abstract: In order to improve the ultimate bearing capacity, the theory of functionally graded material is introduced. Thickwalled cylinder with functionally graded characteristics is gained by analyzing the different reinforcing methods along the radial direction. The stress state of the thickwalled cylinder with plain concrete and three different reinforcing methods under the radical uniform load are analyzed. Comparisons and evaluations are provided on basis of ANSYS results. A reasonable reinforcing method, whose reinforcement ratio near the outer is large and that near the inner is small, is different from the traditional methods. But the abovementioned method is the worst method and it is wrong that reinforcing the part with large circumferential stress in the case of thickwalled cylinder.
