Abstract: We are now promoting the Taiwan’s No. 9, SuHua Highway improvements project. The route construction aims at strengthening the disaster livelihood characteristics and transportation safety service. The scope of Taiwan’s No. 9, SuHua Highway mountainous sections are north from Su’ao near the intersection of Taiwan’s No. 2 and Taiwan’s NO. 9 (104K +726 mileage), south to Liwu Stream (Taiwan’s No. 9 182 km). Among total length of about 77 km road sections, the total length of 38.4 km is to be improved. The tunnel section is 23.4 km. The planning cost is about 49.2 billion, including land use, planning, engineering and price index adjustments, and the need of route security maintenance, the load meter control point set and traffic control system infrastructure. After completion of the EIA in 2010, the project will start in early 2011 and is scheduled to be completed in 2017. We will fully open M+E system, traffic control system and disaster prevention system as soon as the completion of integration and testing.
