3D Numerical Analysis on Subsidence Control of Shield Tunnel Excavation under Airport Runways

Abstract: When shield machines are adopted in the excavation under airport runways, the design and construction of shield tunnel will suffer from the subsidence deformation. How to control the subsidence of the airport runways and how to ensure the safety of the construction of shield tunnel is the key. In this paper, 3D numerical methods are employed to analyze the subsidence of airpotr runway induced by shield construction, the disturbance of surrounding soil induced by shield excavation and the affection of the runway subsidence under different tunnel depths of the shield excavation on Wujiaba Station and Olympic Sports Center Station section of the first phase of Kunming rail. Related information are collected so as to propose the control standards of runway subsidence, 3D numerical methods are employed to get the influence area of the soil disturbance and surface subsidence. Rational depth of the shield tunnel is proposed. The paper can provide effective basis for the design of shield tunnel excavated under airport runways.
